Hi, in 2005 we decided to land as immigrants from the Netherlands to Southern Alberta. As team truck drivers we've seen most of the provinces in Canada, and all of the states in the USA. Some professional some by choice as we've done with the Territories
As told before we had the truck over at LF truck centre in Fort Macleod AB, to have the rear wall changed to get a passthrough door mounted in the back. Our idea was to use a RV box door and LF truck centre came up with the idea; since
Tirecraft in Claresholm AB helped us tremendously with receiving the tires for us as the had done with our rims. Thank you very much! Next task after the cleaning and painting of the rims was putting the tires on the rims. As I had the plan to put beadlocks in
At this moment the truck is at the body shop to get the rear door in the cabin made, as well as a little more space, we will add 6 inch to the back of the cabin. That will give us some more legroom. In the mean time we used
Long weekend was an opportunity to see if we could score some parts we needed for the truck. One more (air ride) seat, hangers for round tanks, and if possible, an adjustable steering column. Remember the insulated reefer box in Edmonton that wasn't there? The salesman did feel
The inside of the cabin is all taken out so it can be determined what and how to make a pass-through through the back wall. Also, we want a box on the roof of the cabin, so most likely reinforcements have to be made as well for that. When
We found and purchased an insulated old reefer box. Later this year we will take it off it's frame, take the reefer unit off and put the box on our frame. See you next blog.
First step is to make it possible to get the box off. Too much money would be involved to get it repaired and insulated, while we can get a former reefer-box. (By now we found one, but that's for a later article.) Frame-boxes have come off,
After researching options for repair/ adjusting the box and insulate, we decided to take the box off and look for a shorter (former) reefer box without the reefer since that is the cheapest option to start with. Looking for a former reefer-box on internet several options are available. However
And then it starts with inventory; what we need to replace, maintain, change etcetera. Measuring what we are working with and let ideas simmer and develop as we go along. As well as we need to get insurance coverage and a registration. See you next blog.
Working with Sketch-up gives a decent idea how the truck might end up. See you next blog.
We've bitten the bullet. We purchased a '98 Freightliner FL70 Box truck, which we will update to a place to travel with. Ideas are plenty, but we will start with getting it all in working order and safe. See you next blog.
This is a site by The Hogswart's "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" which was on another provider and that's just getting started with Ghost. Things will be up and running here shortly. I am trying to get the old blogs on this page as well. In the
